Welcome to Monster in my Closet.com,
your on-line home to New Jersey's premiere special effects make-up
and Fabrication studio!
At Monster in my Closet, we specialize in not only special effects
make-up for your every film, television, and theatrical need, but
also custom prop fabrication, industrial mold-making, animatronics,
story-board, concept design, and anything else you can imagine that
requires an artistic touch.
Head artist of Monster in my Closet: Jeremy Selenfriend has been
bringing to life the various things which lurk in his imagination
(not to mention in his shop) professionally for the last seven years,
but has been thinking them up, and making them for himself since
he was 10 years old and allowed to decorate the house for Halloween.
Jeremy trained in the field of make-up and special effects at the
Art Institute of Pittsburgh, and also with renowned make-up creator
Dick Smith, and of course learned a great deal just trying things,
taking on various internships, and apprenticeships. "The learning
process is never complete however, with new technologies in the
field being developed all of the time. Keeping current and on top
of new techniques is essential to stay in business."
After years of successful freelancing, Jeremy went into full fledged
business for himself, opening the doors to Monster in my Closet
in 2003. The fully loaded workshop is located in North Jersey, right
outside of Manhattan (exit 165 on the Garden State Parkway).
Monster in my Closet is responsible for bringing a bevy of monsters,
ghouls, and the seemingly unimaginable to local (and many not so
local on-location shoots) film-makers on both small and large budgeted
films and videos. "Staying cost effective is important as people
are trying to bring their dreams to life, and I love being able
to help them achieve that. At the end of the day, I go to sleep
having made my living doing what I love, and have wanted since I
was a child. That brings a level of passion to my work that you
don't often see, and that keeps me going in the field, despite any
obstacles."
Browse through the site, please contact me with any questions or
comments, and be careful when opening any closet doors...
